The team behind the Ker 40:

Ker Design:

Not just leaders in creating truly competitive IRC yachts under 50ft, but almost the only design office with the proven ability to do so.  Jason Ker and his team have consistently prefered high performance over low rating and their results show that this approach has worked and given the buyers of Ker designed boats a lot of fun along the way.  Applying advanced technology from their AC campaigns, Jason and his team have managed design hull shapes that have a great combination of low drag and high stablity, essential for making smaller "race boats" highly competitive under IRC rules and coincidentally also highly advantageous under almost any rule.

McConaghy Boats:

Renowned for building the worlds most immaculately finished race boats for many years, McConaghy moved part of their operation to china and trained up a local workforce, building boats such as the TP52 "Patches" (later renamed "Ran"), the IRC 55 "Yendys", the VO70 "Green Dragon" and even an AC yacht for the Chinese team for the 32nd Americas Cup.  More recently the focus has moved to production, taking advantage of the workforce's ability to maintain the same high standards day after day in a production environment. Mark Evans and his team in China have been building Elliot 6's for the 2012 London olympics, Melges 20's, and the world championship winning Mach2 Moths, as well as the carbon "jewellery" which McConaghy have long been famous for, such as their wheels and pedestals which feature on most of the worlds leading racing yachts.  The combination of McConaghy's mastery of high technology construction and their efficient production is what makes a high tech production product like the Ker 40 possible.
